Project
In the midst of a major digital revamp for Racing Post, the project focused on redefining and validating user needs, objectives, and product features. With a lean research team navigating the challenges of lockdown and furlough periods, the product and design teams stayed informed through both quantitative and qualitative insights. Essential research tools were sourced, and a substantial user panel was developed, comprising both existing users and potential new audiences, allowing the team to explore innovative ideas and features. Additionally, the research team expanded by onboarding and mentoring a recent graduate, further strengthening Racing Post’s research capabilities.

Kevin, as a researcher, is thorough, meticulous, curious, patient, insightful and enjoys sharing his valuable insights about the customer to everyone at all levels within a business; a good person to have around when trying to solve big, chunky user problems.”

The customer panel launch was a strategic collaboration with an agency, focused on building an engaged user base from the ground up. Starting from zero, the site quickly grew to over 700 active participants in four months. This user growth allowed for a series of targeted usability tests, focus groups, and diary studies. These research methods generated valuable insights into user behaviours and preferences. The findings directly informed iterative design improvements, enhancing the mobile application overall user experience.
